Payton Pom-Pom Hat

It has been a while but here is a hat pattern I came up with for my daughter. I hope you enjoy! Please read the notes before starting. This hat is increased rapidly to allow for the puckered top. If you wish to increase normally feel free just make sure the stitch count is divisible by 3 before starting the texture stitches.

Materials:
Worsted Weight Yarn
I/ 5.5mm Hook
Pom- Pom Maker
Yarn Needle

I love this Yarn: Hobby Lobby

Stitch Abbreviations:
Sc- single crochet
Hdc - half double crochet
Dc- double crochet
sl st - slip stitch
Ch – chain

Notes:
-     - The chain does not count as a stitch.
-     - Always join to the first stitch of each round.
-     - Always start your round in the same stitch as your chain.
-     - Here is a link to explain my working in the round method.
-     - If you feel the hat is coming out small or large, adjust your hook.
-     - Feel free to add or subtract rounds to your preference. Adding more rounds will also create a              slouch style hat.
-     - The rounds are increased differently than a normal hat in order to create a puckered type look on        the top.
-     - For the pom-pom I used the Blue Clover brand pom-pom maker from the large set.

Is child size appropriate for a 12 year old? Or should I make the adult?

I apologize some how your comment got missed! I would suggest the adult size.

"Round 8-20: (Sc, 2 Dc) in first stitch, * Skip 2 stitches, (Sc, 2 Dc) in next* Repeat around, skip last two stitches, join, ch.1 (66 stitches)
Round 21-24: SC in each stitch around, join, ch.1 (63 stitches)"
Shouldn't the rows 21-24 be a total of 66 stitches around, not 63 as noted? I figure it's a typo or simple mistake, I just noticed as I was making the pattern.
