Stitch Abbreviations:

Sc - single crochet

Hdc - half double crochet

Dc- double crochet

sl st - slip stitch

Hdc2tog- half double crochet decrease

Notes:  The body is worked in rounds; you do not turn.  Use your stitch markers or safety pins to mark each round. At the beginning of each round the first Sc should be in the same Sc as the joining sl st.  (This is for the body only)

Body

Ch. 29

Round 1: Starting in 2^nd ch. from the hook, Sc in 1^st 27 chains, 3sc in last chain; on the back side of the chain going around, sc in next 27 chain loops, 3 Sc in starting ch, sl st in beg. Sc  (60 Sc)

Round 2: Ch. 1, Sc in next 27 sts (2sc in next 3sts), Sc  in next 27 (2 Sc in next 3sts), sl st in 1^st Sc  (66 sc)

Round 3: Ch. 1, Sc in next 27, (2 Sc in next, 1 Sc in next) 3 times, Sc in next 27,  (2 Sc in next, 1 Sc in next) 3 times, join to 1^st Sc  (72 Sc)

Nose

Chain 9

Row 1: Hdc in 2^nd chain from hook and in each remaining ch, Chain 1, Turn (8 Hdc)

Row 2: Hdc2tog, Hdc in next 4 sts, Hdc2tog, Chain 1, Turn (6 Hdc)

Row 3: Hdc2tog, Hdc in next 2 sts, Hdc2tog, Chain 1, Turn (4Hdc)

Sc crochet evenly around chaining one in between corners. Fasten off leaving enough yarn to sew on

Wings- (Make 2)

Magic Ring, Ch. 1

Round 1: Hdc 8 in Ring

Round 2: 2 Hdc in each st around (16 sts)

Round 3: (2 Hdc in next, Hdc in next) repeat around (24 sts)

Round 4: (2 Hdc in next, Hdc in next 2 sts) repeat around (32 sts)

Round 5: (2 Hdc in next, Hdc in next 3 sts) repeat around (40 sts)

Round 6: (2 Hdc in next, Hdc in next 4 sts) repeat around (48 sts)

Row 7: Hdc in next 12 sts, Ch.1, turn (12sts)

Row 8: Hdc2tog, Hdc in next 8, Hdc2tog, Ch.1, turn (10sts)

Row 9: Hdc2tog, Hdc in next 6, Hdc2tog, Ch.1, turn (8sts)

Row 10: Hdc2tog, Hdc in next 4, Hdc2tog, Ch.1, turn (6sts)

Sc evenly around with sc, ch.1, sc in corner, Fasten off leaving enough yarn to sew on.

Using the yarn needle sew on the eyes, nose, and wings. I took the peach yarn and embroidered little v-shaped feathers on the bottom area.

After every part and/or embellishment has been added to the body, you will need to add stuffing. (I also added a little extra stuffing as I was closing so the top wouldn’t be flat.)

Closing the pillow:

Flatten the round so you have a front and back side together with stitches aligned. Starting on the far right side, facing the front, join and chain 3.

Dc in same st as chain 3.

Dc in next 2 sts.

HDC in next 2 sts

Sc in next 34 sts

Hdc in next 2 sts

Dc in next 2sts

Dc in last st, chain three and sl st in same as last Dc, Fasten off.

If you want you could use a different method to close the opening, like sewing. I chose this method to help create the owl head like appearance. 

I then cut 2 pieces of 4 different colors of yarn for each side and attached them between 1^st two Dc.  Cutting them down to the size I wanted.
